new to bantams

HI! I'm new to bantams. I've been raised around laying hens and radioland reds my husband got me three bantams. a male and two females, my females just started laying but not sure if they're sitting yet. i want chicks (they are pets) I'm not breeding to sale....does it take a minute for bantams to actually sit on eggs? any tips or advice needed! thank you.

I am unsure of the answer to your question, as I only just got got my first chicks 5 weeks ago. I've got bantams as well, and I'm loving them.

What breeds are yours? I think that can affect when and how likely they are to go broody. Cochins, for example, seem to go broody earlier and often. Like, to where it can become problematic. I've read that other breeds like Sebrights rarely go broody.

hi thank you for your reply! i am not sure he does have furry feet so maybe a cochin?? or part? thank you yes i agree he's a handsome boy. now i got two female bantams they are slick looking a very dark grey color and a light brown. his name (the rooster) is scotty.

If he's got feathered feet, he could be a cochin, d'Uccle, or brahma or a mix of one of those. It's hard to tell from the picture, but he could be a bantam partridge cochin.
