New to BYC and chickens in Paradise, Texas

Hi, y'all

I found this forum, looking for how to best raise chickens, what kind to get for our region (layers and fryers) and where to get the best chickens. Would love to get connected with local peeps to share information and ideas. Will be attending the Decatur coop tour next weekend, so maybe I'll meet a few of you there I see that I can learn everything I need to know about chickens in this forum, but have gotten a little lost in the amount of information. Anyway, I'm glad to be here and grateful y'all are here too
