Hello all! I originally joined here just a day ago for some help, but I figured it would be fun to get into the community a little bit.
I'm a high school girl that's gonna be a senior next year, I love animals and have two rabbits and a parakeet asides from my ducks. I also ride horses, but I won't get into that lol.
Up until last Friday, I did not really have a flock of ducks. After trying to save a wild duck (he didn't make it sadly), my mom agreed to get two ducks to raise as our own. Our first two were Muscovy females--Aspen and Cashew. While trying to set up a proper a coop, and letting them live outside, a raccoon got Cashew, but Aspen made it. I still blame myself for not securing the temporary coop better.
Aspen was so lonely that we got her a friend, and the one that I liked the best from the lady we bought them from (we went back to the original seller) was a male...Long story short, I now have 25 ducklings! lol.
Firefly was her companion, he wasn't hand raised so he isn't as sweet, but he's still a good bird. We have to keep him separated now from Aspen and the babies. But everyone is happy and healthy! I think, asides from poor Cashew, we have done a good job for first timers.
Please tell me about your own flocks! My dream is to have chickens one day, but the place where I live only allows ducks...weird, right? Haha.
