New to BYC and to Israel

Hi Gabby! So glad to see someone else from Israel here!

I am from Holland and have lived in Israel since 2003. I have a small flock of mixed breed chickens but am trying in every way I can to find some special chickens or hatching eggs here. I know there are no big hatcheries of heritage breeds here, but on Yad2 it is possible to find some. I have been in contact with someone who has black copper Marans and am waiting for his chicks to hatch

If you do start a hatchery, I will be first in line to buy hatching eggs or chicks from you!!
I recently managed to get hold of 3 silky eggs but unfortunately they all died in the incredible heat wave last week... 3 fully formed chicks basically cooked in the shell

Thank you all for the info. I am thinking of doing a dual hatchery. Extra licensing i know from what my friend told me. But i want meat birds too now. Withall the bird flu..free range home grown organic is nice. I even have someone to butcher them according to halacha..so this is exciting. Im meeting with an investor this friday before shabbat. I hope it all works out well...then i will have a hatchery in the greatest place on earth. Thanks for all the nice coments..nice to meet you all
