Hello all:
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
My husband and I are completely new to chickens. Any help/advice that can be given would be welcomed dearly!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Currently 0; hoping to change that in the near future.
(3) What breeds do you have?
What is a hardy breed of chickens for the Tennessee climate?
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Lots of google searches.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Crocheting. Looking to expand.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My husband and I recently bought a 5 acre plot in the country. The house is not old but had been sitting empty for almost 2 years. The land was overgrown terribly. We have been in the process of mending the fence (a little over 3 acres had already been fenced off) and adding electric fencing as well. We are looking to start a small farm. We are learning as we go. A little apprehensive since we are not young, but never too old to learn.
We own 4 dogs (pit bulls ages 3, 7, 8 and 10, that do not know that they are dogs).
