I got my first chickens when I was in highschool from my aunt who bless her has always supported my obcessive love for all animals. I got involved with the chicken projects in 4-h and started showing my birds at the county fairs. When I moved to college, I had to sell all my lovely birds since my parents really didnt want to care for them... But being recently married, my husband has allowed me to start up a new (already large) flock.
Currently my oldest chicks are about 4/5 weeks old... I've got 11 barred rocks, 4 black sex links, 8 rhode island reds, 8 Americaunas, 6 STD partridge cochins, 3 Bantam blue cochins, 4 bantam buff cochins, 5 bantam black cochins, 2 buff orpingtons, 2 white chicks that I have yet to determine the breed and the same for 2 buff chicks (i'm beginning to think they might be buff orpingtons as well since I cant tell the difference) and 2 new hampshire reds. Then I have an order in for april 22nd from a hatchery to pick up 5 white crested polish's, 5 buff orpingtons and a cockrel, 5 california whites and a cockrel, 5 black STD cochins and hopefully

5 splash cochins i've been trying to get but everyone seems to be out of. The hatchery has instructions that if they dont have 5 splashes to just give me 10 STD blacks instead...
I am still a college student, majoring in equestrian science and hoping to someday open a youth ranch for troubled children and teenagers. I LOVE LOVE LOVE kids and hate seeing them hurt.
I currently work at Orschln's as a part time cashier, and I agree with most people that feed store chicks are often not well taken care of in feed stores, but I am coming more and more to realize its purely ignorance and am proud to say I have been educating both my managers and fellow employee's and customers on how they should be cared for

You can be sure my store keeps them well... at least when I'm on shift.
Other than the chickens, I also have 1 horse, 4 dogs, 1 cat, 1 red eared slider, and a 55 gal fish tank full of tropical fish. . . I love animals, what else can I say?

Ok... Finally found my missing camera and just spent quite awhile loading photos

Here you go...

First pic. is Scooby, my first chicken that I ever owned and probably one of the sweetest roosters in history. He liked laying on his back on your lap and getting foot rubs... lets just say he was spoiled.

This is the 3 blue bantam cochins I just added yesterday

Here are my 5 black cochin bantams, the oldest one on the left I'm thinking is a hen. The three tiny blacks I added and the three blues she seems to have adopted at her young age. She lets them run up to her and hide under her wings for warmth. I'm hoping a great broody hen!

Five barred rocks I added this week in hopes of some pullets after picking out some at the feed store that all turned out to be roo's... I learned my lesson on sexing barred rock babies right there.

My sweetest chicken of all so far. She hops onto her waterer and then to the edge of the tub I keep her in just because she wants to come out and say Hi.
