Hello,

I'm Kimberly, I'm a ULC Ordained minister that has recently started raising chickens. I presently have eight babies. Three of them are lavender americaunos and the other five are Easter Eggers.

We have about 18 of a barnyard mix with rainbow colored eggs in our incubator still. They will be hatching in about 3 weeks. We recently undertook our first hatching experience and we got eight out of 26 eggs to hatch.. I was pretty bummed out about the low rate of hatch because a lot of them were fertile but they did not ever hatch. My grandchildren are in this with me. They are helping to care for and name the chickens.

I live on a Four Acre family property with my daughter, her fiance, their 4 children. We have 4 homes here, and we all consider it our own little Slice of Heaven.

I look forward to learning more about chickens with you all.

That's neat you all live on a slice of Heaven together! Don't feel bad about your hatch rate, you got some to hatch!--I've had none hatch before.😬 You could definitely get hatching advice in the Incubating and Hatching Forum if you think there are issues you are wanting to troubleshoot.

Best of luck with your hatch! Thanks for joining and welcome to BackYard Chickens!
