New to BYC, from Missouri

Just bought a home back in June with 13acres, and thinking chickens will be our first intro to our "farm" . Was raised on a ranch in Nebraska but now that I'm an adult I have absolutely no idea where to start. Was thinking of building a chicken coop and starting out with five birds as well. I know the basics obviously food, water and fencing that will keep disgusting snakes and other creatures out of it. Other than that blank slate to work with.

We have a little girl who cannot wait to have her own baby chicks. But not knowing Anything about chickens, want to do research and planning before introducing live ones to our land.

So here I am beginning my research. Was so glad to find an actual forum that dedicates itself to raising chickens so hi ya'll
