Hello, I'm a seasoned backyard poultry keeper of 34 years! O.K. that is dates me!
Our first year of marriage my husband wanted a puppy , so I said only if I can have chickens!!
SO we're still happily hitched and haven't stopped keeping poultry!
A 4-H Leader and 4-H Alumni, my 3 children all had many livestock and poultry projects in 4-H.
Presently our farm consists of Romney & Shropshire sheep, 1 dairy goat, 2 horses, French Black Copper Maran, Black Australorp, Buff Brahma bantams, BB OEGame bantams, ginger OEGame bantams, golden sebright and a few black sexlinks. My Grandpa owned a small hatchery, so I have fond memories of the smell of woodshavings & chicks! It seems to be in the blood as an inherited love!! I am guinea-less after 16 years of buckwheating sounds in the back yard!! It was a love hate relationship!! I presently have 2 incubators going with BC Maran eggs, and Golden Sebright eggs. I look forward to sharing with others about poultry!
