Howdy Folks!
I am a wife and mother of one (so far) making a first attempt at raising chickens. 39 chicks came in the mail last week and seem to be doing great. We have barred rocks, buff orph.s, black australorps, silver laced wyandottes (5 each of those), lt. brown leghorns (2), one buff brahma rooster, and 16 rainbow rangers from Meyers hatchery. I'm very excited and loving the matter of raising chicks so far, and starting to ask myself why we didn't start this sooner. The coup and run are almost complete, but we'll wait a few weeks to move the chicks out there. I'm excited to join BYC and learn everything I need to know to keep our flock at it's best. Also very excited to become more self sufficient. Since the sum of my chicken experience is limited to this past week, I am all too happy to hear advice from more experienced chicken keepers, so if you have any tips for a first timer, let me know! Thanks so much!
