New to BYC!Hello!

Welcome to BYC! You will finds lots of useful information on this site. Good luck with your flock.

It would be great if you post some teaching aids re: chicken speak. You could give us a lesson in chicken phonics and even better if you do a video so we get the pronunciation right. They are probably fed up with people going "here chick chick."

Some people have even clicker trained chickens and taught then to do "agility" courses, modified from the type dogs do. I'm sure they would learn faster if we spoke their language.

"chicken speak" with my hens is all about the tone rather than the exact pronunciation, different tones mean different things, listen to your chickens and see if you can identify certain sounds, then make up the "word"of that sound in your mind, then draw it out with your voice so that it sounds like a continuous note that matches the hens voice(some hens are easier to imitate!).I can make certain sounds with that tone and word and it affects the flocks behavior. For Instance: "Boor Boor" is a sound that's happy,it conveys all is well!when you make this sound remember the "R" is not pronounced in the word,it will seem like your barely saying it!When you make this sound, you immediately have a calming effect on them.:)
Also I have found that crouching is the best way to attract your chickens to you, they can't help being curious, then they will want to explore around you, eating at your feet, under you,and during this time is perfect for petting sessions.XD I would recommend singing to your chickens when they are babies,it gets them used to your voice early, and then they will remember how your voice sounds,it's tone,it's eccentricities. They will recognize your voice alone, and that gives you a distinct advantage!:)

Alright
