Nice to have you, Melissa.

and you too, Melisa (Jesusbear7). I go through your town during summer, going to our church camp.

There's a short description up in the BYC 'Breeds' area with some nice pics of them, or a much longer description here with more about their history. http://www.albc-usa.org/cpl/buckeye.html

There's a BYC member who breeds them for type/standard, named BuckeyDave. He has a website as well that has info about them.

I've been contemplating getting some to breed, they seem like a very interesting bird to raise, and they'd be suited to my situation I think, since mine free range and I like calm friendly birds, but still hardy enough to get along in our winters. Oh, and I live about 30 miles from Warren where Nettie Metcalf first came up with the original stock!

Oh, there's several hatcheries that sell them, though of course hatchery stock is sometimes a little less strict about type than a private breeder. That's not a hard and fast rule I'd say, but in general it's a fair statement.
