Hello my name is Lucy, I have 11 chickens, 3 roosters and 8 hens. 3 are Bar Rocks, 3 are Rhode Island Reds, and 5 are ISO Browns. This is my second year having chickens. I started last year with 3 Rhode Island Reds that did not make to fall. I am giving it another try this year. Look forward to adding and learning from this site. I have always read post that c I me up from sear he's I have done.

Greetings, warsawgirl, and :welcome. Pleased you joined us and that you are giving chickens another try. One word of advice....your rooster to hen ratio may be out of whack. To avoid overbreeding of the hens, you might consider re-homing one or two of the rooster. Just my opinion. Best of luck to you! :)

Hi Lucy,

It sounds like you have a nice flock! I agree with Redsoxs, there may be a few too many roosters. A general ratio is 1 rooster per 8 hens.

Thanks for joining us!

Yes, I have been trying to find a good home for 2 of them. It is what I ended up with when they grew, the Rhode Island Reds and Bar Rocks were straight runs.
