I will add that we have hawks, owls, coyotes, fox, racoons, skunks, possums...around here so I'm taking a little extra care in planning for chickens. I was talking to one of my neighbors who had one of his hens carried away by a "chicken hawk". I figured it was a red-tailed hawk. She was dropped ~1/4 mile away at my neighbors across the street. They found her, knew she was his and took her back to him. She had 2 big puncture wounds but seemed to OK all things considered. It gets exciting out here at times!
