New to BYC

We have 8 hens, they were chicks this spring. We are getting about 5 eggs a day. Farm raised girl, but first time chicken owner. There is nothing like getting fresh eggs! I also love how they talk to me.

I have 2 RIR, one silver laced Wyandotte, 3 Australorps, and my favorite - 2 buff orpingtons.
I also have a west highland terrier who is a chicken herder!

Awesome, you have a westie! The best dog I ever had was a westie. Sadly, she is gone now but they are absolutely wonderful dogs. Just a word of caution, keep a close eye on her because we hear a lot of stories about the family pet using chicks for toys (much to the detriment of the chickens).

I was really worried at first but she has been great. She gives a little chase sometimes and nudges them with her nose.

So glad you joined the BYC flock. It must be cute watching your Westie herding chickens. There is a Westie in the neighborhod and she is a delight.
