Hi All, I'm so excited to be joining the BYC Community!

My husband and I are all new to the whole Chicken raising! We started out because we love eggs so much and have been wanting to eventually get back to the way things use to be, living off the land. We live on 80acres/family land. Which use to have a working farm.

Christmas eve I surprised my husband with 3 Barred Rock Chickens. Which were supposed to be 3 Hens. But ended up being to Roosters and one hen! She is now laying. We have enjoyed them so much! Now that she is laying we are even more excited and now we can't wait to have more hens! I have 4 Barred Rocks ordered and waiting for them to hatch! We will have them the beginning of April! Can't wait to have baby chicks! An Incubator is in our near future! Last night we went to our first chicken auction! That was such a blast! We went to get more hens and when we got there we saw BANTAMS!!! OMG!!! They are the cutest thing ever!!!! We left with 4 bantams (2 little roos and 2 little hens) and no more Barred Rock Hens! After going to the auction last night, we've decided that not only were we going to raise chickens for eggs and meat, but we are going to raise chickens for sale as well! We are chicken obsessed and loving it!!!! Looking forward to learning all I can about raising chickens!!! Next Livestock to get will be goats, then rabbits or vice versa!

Happy to be here,

Hi and welcome to BYC.

Lastly but by no means least, the members here are amazing - very friendly and helpful, so if you need an answer to a question or simply want some reassurance that what you are doing is ok, then post away - we all help each other out here at BYC.

All the best
