New to BYC

Hi my name is Rachel and my family and I have been raising chickens and ducks for one year now. Always having lots of questions and concerns. I love checking out BYC for answers. One of our chicks that are 9 weeks old just started crowing this morning. So I thought I better get an account.

Thank you for joining us at Backyard chickens. Welcome Rachel, it's nice to meet you. Sounds like you have one confirmed cockerel. What breeds do you have? If you post photos at "what breed or gender is this," the folks there will sort them out for you.

Thank you. We have a variety of chickens and ducks. We have 1 Buff Orpington, 1 Leghorn, 1 black Sex link, 1 Golden Sex link, These 4 are spring chickens from last year. This spring we got one white Silky (love her) and one Easter Egger (witch is the one that is now a rooster). Then we also got 2 ducks this year. One is a Blue Swedish and the other is a Cayuga.

As you have already received links to some good starting points, I will just wish you all the best.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out
