Hi, I'm Amber from California. I've occasionally browsed BYC for a few years now. I attended the show in Hollister two weeks ago and along with seeing several 4H member/leaders I know, I met a BYC mod - Shell(by?) and her daughter. They had the prettiest Sebastopol geese and offered me one. Later, I told my son about it and he said he really wished I had taken it. *smacks forehead*
I've had a few backyard flocks but my kids are the ones with the poultry now. They're in 4H and have a flock of about 22 chickens and 4 ducks. All but a few have been given to them. They were recently given two "real" RIR cockerels and we're looking for some nice hens (show) to go with them.
We'll probably make our way to the Stockton show tomorrow. Forgot about entering their cockerels (again). I guess I'm not used to the boys having birds to show. I'm a 4H poultry leader, too, *blush* but our club's project focuses more on the laying flock.
My other (main) love is rabbits. My son and I show Jersey Wooly rabbits and Dutch on a state and national level. We are Wonder Woolies Rabbitry.
We also have dogs, cats, rats, geckos, and a pair of racing pigeons.
