New to BYC

My name is Mike and I have a small farm in St. Augustine FL. Looking to get a small flock of chickens and raising quail for meat and eggs. Thanks for having me!!!!

Not sure on the chicken breeds yet. I will only have them for eggs. For quail I will get coturnix (meat) and bobwhite (hunt).

I don't know anything about quail, does this mean that you will buy the bobwhites and cut them loose on your property for hunting?

I plan on keeping a small flock of bobwhites and incubating the eggs. In FL you can get a permit to release bobwhites in certain management areas and hunt them.

Interesting. I think some people do the same with Mallards and pheasants?
