Hello,
I have had chickens on-off for a few years. The majority of my losses come from the chickens not returning to the coop, roosting outside and getting picked off by predators. Currently, I have 1 rooster and 1 grown hen, both buff orpington. I have a batch of 2 week old poultry in brooders including: 4 chicken chicks, 11 mixed guinea keets, and 4 peafowl chicks.
I also have a toddler, one dog, and one cat. My objective in getting the guineas and peafowl is to help protect my yard from rattle snakes. I found backyard chickens in looking for advice on my peafowl. I read lots of old posts and then joined so I could post my own questions and get advice.
I got some good responses coming in already from the community: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/new-to-peachicks.1315220/#post-21446005
Thanks,
Sarah
