Hello All,
Im new and a 5 year chicken owner.( I thought 3 years but i lost track of time!)
This year Im starting with chicks. I have 7 Isa Browns.
All look the same but for one that is white/cream colored, it is also the largest
of the group. Its temperment is milder than the others as well.
I started 3 years ago with 9 chickens: 3 Barredrock, 3 Black Australorps and 3 Rhode Islands.
I still have one Barredrock, we call her Lucy. Unfortunately she has taken to eating the eggs and i must take her to the farm
down the road to a woman who adopts them from me when that happens. She is sweet and will be sad to see her go.
Besides Lucy i have a new batch of chickens i got last year. I cant remember the type, Starts with a C, they look similar to RI Reds, lay huge brown eggs! They are not as friendly as Lucy, but they dont mess with her!
I have learned alot on my own, have had difficulties learning what to do and what not to do. Problems with Hawks and a rat, but the worst was a neighbors dog who got loose and dug its was into the coop, that was awful!
look forward to learning more from everyone............Take care!
