Hi Everyone!
I've been wringing all the great chicken info out of BYC for a year or two now ... a couple years ago we got 2 Australorps, two banty hens and a bantam rooster of some variety. The little ones are no longer with us, but our two Australorp girls are free range and very sweet. They don't lay much, but we're surprised at how much we enjoy their personalities. This year my daughter (8 in 2021) wanted to get some chicks, so we ordered 16 (Light Sussex and Jubilee Orpington) from Chicken Scratch Poultry. Currently down to 11, but I'll post about that somewhere else! My husband, daughter and I live in the Shenandoah Valley, we like swimming and kayaking in the river, hiking with our sweet black labs and our cat (11 years old who walks a ways then demands to be carried), and sharing a cantaloupe with everybody (except the cat). Thank you all for being a wealth of helpful knowledge and advice!
