Hi everyone! I have been coming to BYC for a few months now and decided to join. I live on a grain and livestock farm with my husband. I love my chickens as do our grandchildren. They have turned in to my pets and give us delicious, colorful eggs. I have a flock of 7-2 year old layers and a flock of 7-pullets. One of the pullers has started laying an egg. The breeds I have are 1-white horn, 4-barred rock, 2-Easter eggers, 2-sapphire gems, 1-rhode island red, and 4-columbians. I have one 6x10 coopThat includes a small storage area that we bought used. My pullers need a chicken coop before winter, which can get to below zero here. I like the simplicity and cost of the hoop coops but wonder about where to put the nesting boxes. I want them on the outside so I can collect them with ease. I also like a stick built coop with a covered run and slant roof. I need simple and cheap. I’d love to buy one but not for thousands of dollars! Any examples, ideas, pictures are welcome. Thanks and I look forward to being part of this community!!
