Hi everyone. I'm a new chicken mama. I was raised on a farm and grew up with chickens, although I never really messed with them. I was more into horses back then. But now I am a "mom" to six chick(ens). They are around 15 wks and are doing great. When I bought them, I was told they were Easter Eggers / Ameraucanas. 4 of the 6 have beards and peacombs. The other 2 look like theirs will be regular combs and wattles. They free range all day, and seem to be healthy and happy. One is a bit bossy and is food dominant. Would love to hear any ideas how to break her from this behavior before she starts picking on some of the others too much. She's a little mean on the roost in the evening too. But so far no feather picking is going on yet. I look forward to being a part of this community. there is so much useful info here.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

I've had bossy hens in the past, some of them get worse with age. As long as they aren't causing injury, the others will learn to stay away from her. I had one hen that was so bossy, she ripped combs, flogged the other hens, almost killed an old feeble hen. She wore painless peepers much of her life.

Good luck with your flock!
