(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Nope, I had a lot of chickens when I was growing up, but after moving to the city it’s been a few years since I’ve had some chickens! Just found out recently city ordinance will allow folks to keep a handful of chickens!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
As of right now, none! I’m currently in the active process of hatching an egg right now, and planning to make sure it won’t be alone once it hatches.
(3) What breeds do you have?
I don’t own any specific breeds as of right now, my egg that I’m incubating was given to me from my sisters coop, her rooster was a Rhode Island, and she has a large assortment of hens, mostly Easter eggers.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
The whole process! From raising them, to watching them begin to raise their own young. Life is positively fascinating and beautiful.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I enjoy gardening and other small forms of husbandry, with fish keeping and reptile care packed into my daily chores.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I am married, but me and my husband currently are living with my parents. We are joined in the house by 6 dogs, two cats, a fish tank and a leopard gecko who enjoys his alone time!
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I actually stumbled upon BYC after I first gained my egg, I had just been quietly browsing and lurking until my own questions started to arise, unable to find anything similar to my own issues at hand, I figured my best bet was to make an account and ask for advice from so many people who have a better grasp on what they’re doing than I would!
