Greetings all, Im Heath and have been raising layers and meat birds for the past 5 years with my wife. We took a cornell co op class and jumped right in the first year with 12 layers and 25 meat chickens. Now we keep around 5-8 layers and 25 meat birds a year. We butcher our own, although Im sorta over it at this point, and have gotten quite skilled at it. Glad to know there are sites like this, which make the learning curve for those who are newand about to make the same mistakes we have, and wished there was a guiding hand.
