Hi, I am new at chicken keeping and I am always looking for information on the best ways to care for my flock. While doing my daily chicken chores, I discovered a round worm in one of their stools. I took a stool sample to my local veterinarian (does not treat chickens) to be tested for parasites. The results of the fecal smear showed that they tested positive for coccidia and roundworms. The results left me with questions. First of all, will all adult chickens test positive for coccidia? Do I need to treat them for it when they show no symptoms? Do all chicken worms show up in fecal smears? What is the safest wormer for them? I am afraid of having them die from toxic worm overload. I have never wormed them and I am not sure what is best. I would appreciate any information anyone could give me.
