Hi. I am new to owning chickens. I recently received 2 rescue chickens. A RIR rooster and an EE hen. They were raggedy and frightened when I got them about 6-8 wks ago. I have noticed that they are looking much healthier and Red (rooster) is becoming a bit aggressive. We were getting eggs regularly from Rosie until about a wk ago. My husband discovered a clutch of six eggs on the ground under a bush. This is all a new learning experience and I have loads of questions. Do EE usually go broody? Do I just let her sit on her clutch and see what happens?

Welcome to BYC!! Glad you joined us! Be sure to look through the forums available; there is literally a forum for almost every question.

Welcome to BYC from California wine country in the Western Sierra Foothills! :frow

Bless you for taking in rescue chickens!

Dunno what shape MY flock would have been in had I not found BYC. I'd start out in The Learning Center portion of BYC to study the basics, then surf the various forums which are pertinent to your unanswered questions. However, unless you have an emergency or a specific health / injury within your flock, DO NOT visit the Emergencies forum because it will freak you out about keeping chickens and all the things that can go wrong - most of which you may never, ever encounter.

Just sayin'.

Thank you! I am checking out the forums and will absolutely stay away from the emergency forum.
