Hi, I'm new to BYC, but not chickens. I live in SE Ohio on a farm. We raise show pigs, butcher pigs and I keep 22 beautiful chickens for my own pleasure. I'm the mother of two grown (married) kids and have a perfect granddaughter who is 1. (So my hubby and I are empty nesters.). My girls are barred rocks, australorps, Rhode Island reds, leghorns, comets, and one Easter egger. No roosters. We had a beautiful Easter egg rooster but I gifted him to a friend who is loving him! He was suppose to be a she. ;0) I'm getting ready to order new chicks. So excited for their arrival!

I know what you are talking about as I have one of my grand children getting ready for College next year and my youngest two boys are now in high school ........
