New to BYC

I have 7 Rhode Island Red Hens who are about 15 weeks old now and are absolutely spiiled rotten. And only want me to take care of them. My dad let them out a couple of days ago and they refused to leave the nesting boxes till I came in. He was mad. It was hilarious.

Birds are scared of new surroundings and it can take them days to get brave enough to explore.

Yes, it takes a while for new birds to relax, come out of the coop and explore their area. Give them time to adjust. Don't force them to come out and let them decide when they are ready to venture out.

Oh, well they definitely come out when I am in with them. Just not when I'm not there. They only want there "mommy". And thanks for the information and the welcome!!!!! Can't believe I have joined a chicken forum. But I LOVE it!!!!!
