Hi Everyone

I'm new to raising chickens, actually I've just ordered my first pair of female Barred Plymouth Rocks. If anyone can let me know all the in and outs, it would be greatly received. They will be delivered on May 21st. I live in Brantford, Ontario and the winters are harsh. My partner and I will be building their coop...should we insulate? Also, I'm trying to reach the Brant poultry and pigeon club to become a member...I can't find their site or number. I'll be glad to get any advice I can. Thanks so much.

Visit the Learning center, then head to "where am I, where are you" forum and look for the Canadian threads.

! Great to have you with us! I'm not sure if any one person knows all the ins and outs but a great place to start is the Learning Center link below. It will give you the knowledge you need to be a responsible poultry keeper! In terms of the coop, for where you live I would certainly insulate it. It isn't absolutely necessary as long the coop is draft free (but also ventilated). I just think for your climate it would make for happier chickens. Good luck to you!

Additionally, you can chat with fellow Canadians on the Canada thread in the link below.

Finally, maybe someone in the Dove/Pigeon site can help you find that club contact info.
