can someone identify these 3 chickens for me? The white one keeps crowing and mounted one of the other hens…is this a rooster? I did read one your forum that some hens will crow and mount other hens…

In your first photo it looks like you have a sapphire gem pullet. In the second photo you have an Easter Egger cockerel, a Red sex Link pullet (the red bird) and the bird right next to her is also a pullet, but will need to see the comb to identify breed. The last photo looks like an Ancona cockerel.

While it is true hens can crown and mate with eachother, it usually happens at a much older age, when the birds are mature

Dang…bought 5 chicks…all supposed to be layer breed hens. Lost 2 to a snake when they were 3 weeks old in 2 days time (caught the snake and relocated)…coop reinforced with 1/4” hardware cloth. Bought 5 additional chicks for a total of 8. One has a severe scissors beak and now I learn I have 2 Cockerels (sigh). Too attached to the “Roos” now as well as my poor “BB” (broken beak) who seems to be doing pretty well…appreciate the info on scissors beaks in chickens and the help with the IDs.
