My adventure keeping chickens started this past spring when I brought home 6 noisy little bundles of fluff. Since then the 3 cornish crosses have found their way to the freezer. The 3 remaining chickens have become the self appointed neighborhood welcome wagon LoL. The neighbors have been more than happy to see the new additions and enjoy watching them and offering little tidbits of veggies when the chickens go visiting. Although recently my little flock has been finding themselves "grounded" to their run until late afternoon. They had started roaming a little to far, and we've found this keeps them closer to home. I have 2 hens and a rooster that was supposed to be a hen. Silvia (SLW) is my charismatic little photo bomber. She HAS to be in every picture, and expects to inspect any pictures taken :) Ethel (BO) is a sweet little lady who is ruled by her stomach. She'll follow you to the ends of the earth for a strawberry. General Tso (RIR) is the rooster formerly known as Rholanda. He was supposed to be a hen, but oh well, these things happen. I enjoy watching his antics and he is showing signs that he is going to take his job seriously and do it well. Hence the name General. I'm crossing my fingers that he won't become aggressive toward people. As a chick he was always the most loving and clingy of the whole group, preferring to perch on my hand or leg rather than to just be near me like the other chicks. He's obviously not fully mature yet, but so far so good. While he's not the snuggle bug he once was, he hasn't showed any aggressive tendencies toward people either. I've watched him with the neighbors and he seems to enjoy the interaction. He always comes running as soon as he sees me whether I have food or not, and still checks in with me periodically when I'm working in the yard. So hopefully he's going to be a good boy.
This site has been invaluable to me so far in answering questions I have in regards to taking care of my little feather dusters. Any time I've googled anything chicken related, this site comes up. So I figured it was time to join.

Thanks for sharing your photos and story in your introduction. You might want to think about adding some more girls to the flock. General could easily over-breed the 2 girls causing them stress from too much attention; one rooster can handle about 10 hens.

Good luck to you, thanks for joining us.

I'm working on adding some girls. I just need to get the other half to come around to my way of thinking. The neighbors are trying to help the cause LoL I haven't seen any available pullets in my area lately either.
