I’m new to chickens. I have 15 chicks coming from Murray McMurray in two weeks. 4 Black stars. 4 Red stars. 4 White Leghorns (wife wanted some white ones) and 2 Rhode Island Red Hens. 1 Rhode Island Red Rooster. (I love to hear a rooster. Wife doesn’t know roosters coming.) I am borrowing a homemade brooder box I plan to disinfect before chicks arrive. I have a 10X15 outbuilding I will be converting to a coop and building an attached run. I am probably gonna cut the building down to a 10X10 because of rot on the front and to recycle some of the good material and to cut on cost of the new metal roof planned. I plan to leave eaves open on Metal to allow ventilation along with ridge vent. I’m gonna put in roosting area and nest boxes etc. I’m in East Tennessee by the way. Mild winter extremely humid summers. Any tips or criticism would be appreciated. Has anyone used Murray. I had two Co workers recommend them.
