New to chickens and new to this site!

Hi! I have four 3 week old chicks that consists of a Pekin, Opington, Black Polish and a Silkie (at least I think that's what they are but I could be wrong!) and I was wondering how early on I can start sexing them? Any help would be most welcome!

Glad you could join us here! At three weeks it may be a little early to sex them yet, especially the polish and silkie. Those two breeds sure can be hard to sex. I'm sure though if you post some pics in the what breed gender section members will be able to help you.

I do know, that silkies take a while to sex. I love them, and can take up to 4 months to be able to tell. Here a photo of a few of my latest hatch.

Aww they're lovely!! I love my Silkie but wow 4 months is a long time! Here's mine

Actually some silkies cannot be sexed till they lay eggs or crow.
