Hi....I my name is Kim and my husband reffers to me as the crazy chicken lady!! I have definately caught chicken fever. I just love them....I never imagined I could enjoy them the way I do. I do remind him though that it was HIS idea to get the chickens!
Sadly my first experience with chickens was not so good. Things were going great from Oct when we got them until last Thursday night when I came across a mountain lion in my hen house about 11:00 PM. After the fear subsided my heart was broken to find all but my poor rooster had been eaten.
My sweet husband felt so bad for me over the weekend that he bought me two new Welsummer hens to keep my rooster company. And a box of baby chicks!! I am having a ball with them but I am a nervous wreck too. They are so cute and lovable but they look so fragile. After what happened to my hens I worry about these chicks all the time. And since they are in a brooder in my spare bedroom I figure they are safe from mountain lions....but still I worry about doing something wrong.
