New to chickens and this group :)

Hi! Brand new to chickens, getting my first flock this spring. Hubby and I have visited friend’s coops, and have been reading all about making coops and runs.

We garden organically, so hoping that along with eggs and compost, we will also have the benefit of fluffy feathery pest control.

Welcome to Back Yard Chickens! So glad you joined. I also am waiting for 1st chicks this spring. So exciting. This is a good group to pal around with in the meantime. You might look for articles and discussions (using Forums and Articles tabs) about gardening with chickens. I also like organic gardening and thought it would be dandy to have my chickens pick out all the bugs. But apparently, they also scratch up your plants and eat your fruits, veggies and greens. So... better they go in after harvest and clean up then, and scratch your compost and manure dressing down into the beds.
