Hello All!
Today is a big day for me as I finally got some chicks, after a 20 year wait. We moved to a community that allows backyard chickens about a year ago and I began planning for this day. The coop is almost built (pictures when it is finished) and my husband took me to get the babies today.
I have four chicks - 1 buff orpington, 2 Araucanas, and 1 Barred Rock. They are almost 2 weeks old and all I want to do is cuddle them. The Orpington is OK with it, but the others need a little patience.
I have three grown children, one middle aged dog, and a very patient husband. My faily has owned lots of pets: cats, dogs, parakeets, a boa constrictor and a corn snake, rats, frogs, fish, and even a salamander. I am ready for some pets that also provide delicious breakfast food!
I also knit and my kids are worried that I will start knitting crazy outfits for my new chickens. I told them they do not have to worry. Looking forward to having lots of adventures in the years to come.
