I give organic crumbled feed to my chickens with < 3 mg calcium. I give it in deep bowls where they cant throw the things they don’t like out. Often they dont eat all of it. After a few days I mix it with yoghurt, water and a little apple cider vinager. This way they it it all.
They get a few hands of grain mix (also bio) with corn and sunflower seeds in the evening at the side (about 25% of the feed). They love it to pick from the ground.
The Chickens also get some leftovers and fruit. And if they are confined to the run all day they get some clipped grasses too.
For Calcium they get oyster shells and crumbled egg shells. And small stones (grit) to grind the food (like grasses). Seperately.
The reason they get organic feed is because they put imported GMO corn
and soja from Brazil with much poison in the feed here. And I don’t like the idea that the rainforest is harvested for chicken feed.
