I've always wanted to have chickens, since I was about 6 years old and visited for a week on my Aunts farm. She had a little over 20 chickens at the time. I remember at that age they scared me (I know scared of a chicken, LOL) but I was amazed that they layed eggs we could eat and I would watch them peck at the ground for hours! I loved them!
Growing up I kept putting it off, marriage, kids, horses, the time never seemed right. Then we moved to the city and I thought my dream was gone forever. Until about 2 weeks ago, I decided to just go for it!! Did my research and gently (haha) introduced the idea to my husband, who said yes upon me explaining my detailed plans :D
So I have 3 Black Orpington chicks and 3 Blue Orpington chicks, all 6 weeks old. And 2 Americauna hens and one Speckled Sussex hen.
We built our own chicken house to match our house and now we're chicken owners :D I am so excited and dare I say obsessed with these chickens and I just can't learn enough about them!!

Hello and yay for finally getting your chickens and having hubby on board. Have you informed him about chicken math? LOL

Hi and
welcome-byc.gif
I used to be scared of chickens too! At the first barn I rode at, there were like seven tiny banty roosters who were not happy about people being in their territory! I did a lot of running

It sounds like you have a cool flock and an interesting coop! If you'd ever like to post pictures of them, you can go to the "My Coop" page-- lots of people have pictures of their coop and birds. Thanks for joining us!
