Hello! I'm Stacy and my family is new to chickens. My husband farmed dairy cows for many years when he was younger, and I am a city girl. My 8 year-old son wanted to raise animals for 4H. Chickens were not what I had in mind, but our friend found some being sold at the county fair. He offered his land in the country for a place to keep them. He said he would help care for them. It has been a learning experience for all of us. My little guy learned very quickly that they don't all make it. Your forum was recommended by a friend. I had glanced at it for ideas on coops, but it came in very useful last night. We have two baby hens and one baby rooster. Our rooster had something wrong with his neck. Your forum helped me find information leading me to believe he has crookneck. When I got the vitamins today and went back out to get him, he looked pretty bad. We were able to give him water through a dropper.

Well, I guess I'm doing more than introducing myself. It's been a tough learning experience for all of us. It's nice to know there is a forum like this where we can learn.

I'm personally glad that the forum was here to help you with your problem. Isn't it such a great resource? That is how we originally found BYC also. We had a hen that got attacked by a coon and with the help of the good folks here was able to nurse her back to health! I also wanted to invite you to one of the biggest Chickenstocks in the country, the Indiana Chickenstock 2010. It is on Saturday, August 7. It's a wonderful way to meet chicken people from all over the state, buy, sell, and trade chickens, turkeys, ducks, quail, etc... and there will be a raffle, LOTS of great homecooked food, and much more!
