Hi Everyone!

Our family of 6 would like to raise some chickens. I have a son that requires a soy free diet and finding chicken eggs without that in the diet has been hard to come by. Since we homeschool and new to the area we thought raising our own would be the best option as we are home most days.

We have 4 kids - ages 10-3 and have been reading a ton about raising chickens, breeds, feed, etc... We had no idea the options were so vast and are looking forward to this adventure. We would like 4-6 chickens and hope to purchase the chicks in the next few weeks. Our biggest task right now is making a coop. We found one that looks fantastic but I am a wreck---my hubby is not handy in that department! It could take months to build!

It looks like I have a lot of reading to do - what a fantastic board!

We bought a chicken coop book that made building the coop very simple. I am somewhat handy, but no master craftsman. All material was labeled and a "cut" sheet was also there. Kind of made it fool proof.. We bought it at Barnes and Nobel.
