Gig Harbor, WA
Hello All. I am excited to be part of the forum community.

My name is Aaron and I have a wife and 4 kids. We have been turning our yard into a garden area and will be adding chickens and rabbits early next year.

I am from Gig Harbor, WA and enjoy riding motorcycles, mountain bikes, and sailing.

My wife and I have really been bitten by the gardening bug and are excited to teach the kids how to raise chickens. We currently have 8 chicks in a brooder. We got 2 easter eggers, 2 olive eggers, 2 barred rocks, and 2 blue saphires. I have a coop built and will be making a hoop run this week. The chicks will be 12 weeks old in the end of December, so we are hoping to slowly transition them to the cold and have them start laying in 2022.

I am active on my motorcycle and sailing forums. It will be fun to talk with everyone and learn a lot about raising these little dionosaurs.

:frow Welcome from New Orleans. I think your idea of teaching your children where food comes from, and the fact that you receive something important for all that work is a great one. I hope you let the kids see how a broody cares for her eggs and young chicks in the not too distant future.
I also look forward to hearing about how things are going and about your hobbies. BYC is a fun place for good information and just general banter about backyard farm animals, gardening and what every strikes your fancy that day. I am glad you decided to join us.
