New to chickens in Illinois

We're near Peoria.

Been there many times when I was a kid. Don't have anyone thereabouts anymore. Folks both buried in the Weldon Cemetery.

Egg laying hens do not smell much. Setup a coop with poop boards and clean regularly.

Hens will rip up you lawn too though. You would have to keep them off of it

Illinois is where I first fell in love with chickens. My grandparents owned a poultry farm (also near Peoria) and one time while visiting them, I made up my mind to have a flock of my own someday.

Chickens sure are fun to keep but, like you said, they can be a bit destructive to yards, gardens, or other things on occasion. :/ Good luck with your future plans and flock! Feel free to ask any questions you may have.
