New to chickens in North Texas

Hello, and welcome to BYC! We're glad to have you here.

So how do you handle the heat? I have a little “pool” (a pot saucer with water) for them but they keep pooping in it and drinking the water instead of their waterer with electrolytes… any suggestions or ideas?

I'm in Texas too and all I do is have a deep shaded area, wet it down with a sprinkler, and have several water dishes for them to stand in.
