Here is the coop so far still a work in progress guess I need to remove the lowest roost bar as its too low

there will be a door there to access the roost mess.... I was going to go with sand in the box and chicken wire to keep them out of the mess

I don't think more than seven chickens is recommended for a pen thats only 30 square ft

The coop is 6'x5'x6' the out side run is 5'x12' with a 6'x5' of that area being 8' tall not sure what the calculation is can some one help with that??

Typical guidlines people quote are 4sqft inside and 10sqft outside. According to those numbers, 7 birds would need 28 sqft inside and 70 sqft outside. Any numbers are just numbers, close quarters encourages bad behavior like fighting/pecking. You have 30 sqft and 60 outside, I"d say you are ok.

I may be expanding the exterior run under the nesting boxes and across may end up with 100sq ft exterior. I am going with 8 birds for now with the jersey giants are straigt run so i may be back to 6 quick if they are roosters. Cant have them here!
