I wouldn't remove the lowest roost - if you ever get silkies, they may use it. Plus it's a nice step up to higher roosts!

I agree, I wouldn't remove the bottom roost pole. It looks good, and they will use it for a step.

thanks. I was looking for some old barn wood but its harder to find then i thought. The nest boxes are made from a old deck I pulled down and repurposed

Just looking at this I would create a 'poop board exit door'. Make it about 6inches tall and long enough to pull out a poop board. If you've already built the siding never mind.
