Heat isn't necessary, as it isn't required, is expensive to make difference, is potentially a cause of fire, and can be a shock if the power went out and they were accustomed to it.

Adding a few hours of added light, however, can be beneficial. All that's really needed is a small mini flor on a timer, to give them a few hours of pre-dawn light.

Thank you, they haven't ever layed before and I want them to start but theyre scheduled to start in the winter I'll do that

Well you can use a normal heating light (the ones you use for baby chicks) hang it up at a proper height, and we have no problems.
