Backyard farm
Hello y'all! I'm a newbie to chickens. In fact my husband had to convince me to get them, but now I'm hooked! He built me a lovely coop/run. I'm hoping to free range soon. We got 3 RIR, or PR not quite sure, a few weeks ago. I'm doing my best to make them feel comfortable. The 'farm' I got them from didn't seem great, but we were so excited to get some hens we got them anyway. I realize now that I have no idea how old they are or anything about their health. They seem fine, kind of quiet and skittish though. No one is laying, but maybe this is because of the stress of moving? Or maybe I got old birds lol. Whatever the case, they have become my pets and I love watching them. I'm looking forward to learning more and adding more hens as 'chicken math' takes over :D

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. Moving will definitely stress hens out and cause them to stop laying for a few weeks. Beware of "chicken math." Very few BYC members are immune to it.) If you haven't done so already, definitely our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is loads of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your hens laying again soon.

thanks y'all! I've been lurking for about a month and just decided to join in on the fun. I took your advice and got some pictures of the ladies. I'll be posting in that forum soon. I'm excited to be a member here!

Welcome to the Backyard chickens flock. You may want to post on your state thread and see if any BYCERS are in your locale.
