Hi,

I thought I sent a post up earlier; but, can't find it. I may have put it in the wrong spot.

But, my wife and I close on a house August 1st that will be zoned AR (which in Orange County, FL it means Agricultural/Residential) and we'll finally be legally allowed to have chickens (as well as any other farm animals we like).

Funny thing is that Orange County, FL is voting today on allowing 3 chickens (no rooster) and the recommendation from the board is to approve the vote.

Who knows when it will actually come into law -- and it will require training and a special type of coop. But, it's a start.

Regardless my wife and I are excited about sustainable living and homesteading here in Florida.

Hey-the Orange County board did not approve allowing backyard chickens. They voted today 8/6/13. But, since you are in AR, the proposed ordinance would not have impacted you anyway. This ordinance that did not pass was going to apply only to residential zoning areas and not agricultural or citrus rural. Good luck with your chickens!

I'm so disappointed in the vote to deny backyard chickens to us Orange County residential homeowners. I thought this was going to be a go. Any thoughts or do you know if/how this issue can be re-introduced?
